I AM NOW ONE OF THOSE GIRLS

I am now one of those girls who buys clothes for their tiny chihuahua dog: I bought rocco a hoodie.

You guys, it's "winter" here aka it rains all the time. And not just hot humid rain, but cold, cuddle up under the blanket and drink hot tea rain. And I feel so bad for my little pup when he doesn't want to crawl out of his bed because he is too stinkin' cold. So I bought him this hoodie and yes it has a fluffy ring around the hood but I swear he looks so cute and I know it is keeping him warm. I mean come on, just look at him!

i'm looking forward to getting a lot done this weekend so my week won't be too hectic

and this guy will be right by my side to keep me company :)

puppy playdate

a family friend brought over his very new very little poodle puppy this weekend. this little girl was the sweetest thing and i thought it would be a good idea to introduce rocco to another dog that is similar to his size. we have tried to have rocco play with his sister who is clearly the same type of dog, same size, same blood! but he usually wants no part in it.

when i brought this little girl in rocco immediately went to the furthest nook in the couch he could find. i did my best to bring the two closer together but rocco just fled every single time while the little puppy dozed off. the closest of interaction i noticed was rocco sneakily going over to get a whiff of the new stuffed animal he saw but quickly retreating when that stuffed animal moved its head.

scrub-a-dub-dub

so since i've been back i noticed that someone was looking prettyyy dirty. you know .. as if they hadn't had a bath in a while. i wonder if it really had been a while .. like if another certain someone had somehow forgot? i did my best but rocco just was not interested in his bath this time. he literally clung to me for dear life. but we got through it and there wasn't even any crying. although there was that look he gave me in the last picture down there. the "i won't forget about this"  look. sorry, bud!

of course i missed my pup

almost everyone i have talked to since being back in costa rica is, did you miss rocco??

of course i missed him! he is my little baby boy and unfortunately i couldn't take him with him home because i was going to be traveling too much it just wouldn't have been good for him.

the first day i was back we took rocco up to the farm and just let him run around and enjoy the outdoors. it was so much fun to just run around with him and watch him play. oh how i missed him!

turning of the seasons

the seasons have been turning slightly here in costa rica. of course, nothing like summer turning into fall at home with red and orange leaves everywhere. more like excruciatingly hot days turning into much more tolerable afternoons.

so on saturday we decided to spend the day outside enjoying warm and breezy afternoon and it was one of the best ideas we have had in a while. we headed up to the family's second property and let rocco run free. boy did he love it. and so did i :)

i love spending time outside and for whatever reason i dont get to do it here enough. probably because the sun usually fries my skin in about 10 minutes. so here's to cooler days for a few more weeks.

what did everyone else do this weekend?

only a few weeks left

my weekend mostly consisted of me and this little guy and my computer. with just 1.5 weeks left of classes and then 1.5 weeks of exams and then another week or so of teacher stuff, my school year is coming to an end! so this weekend i spent my time making lesson plans and quizzes and grading final projects. and now i'm left to make final exams and figure out final grades!

i'm hoping this week i can really get motivated to just finish everything so that next weekend i don't have to worry about it all. and then i can spend even more time with my little man doing this:

so i clearly don't know how to take video correctly or how to upload it correctly. but either way, here is a video of rocco meeting the grass for maybe the 7th time in his life. i think he gets on his feet after a good 45 seconds.

 

i just can't get enough

okay, so i know i have posted a bagillion pictures of rocco in the last few weeks but i honestly cannot get enough of him. he has been getting cuter and cuter as each week passes.

i look forward to bed time when he hops up on to bed, goes straight to wear i'm sitting and burrows under the covers until he's curled up right next to my legs.

or in the mornings when pops his head out and just starts giving me kisses.

and although he looks like he's in complete shock from his bath the other day, he was such a good sport about it. no crying, whining, nothing ;) my baby boy.

i'm really so glad i made the decision to get this little guy, makes me smile every day!

a fake post

how can you not just instantly fall in love with this little guy?? he melts my heart.

i don't really have a post for today .. and i may not have one for tomorrow. the end of the school year is kiiind of already killing me over here! it feels like we just had exams and now i am getting ready for another round. just 8 more weeks until finals and then i'm done with my first year of teaching.

someone had a rough day

 i know that based on my hair in this picture your're probably thinking that i'm the one who had a rough day. but no .. it was rocco.

rocco went to his 5 month check up at the vet the other day. lets just say that he knows what it means now when we get in the car and end up at the vet. he doesn't even let all four of his feet stay on that table. and at one point there were four hands holding down that little dog just so the doctor could do his thing. it's a good thing my rocco is pretty cute.

he was pretty reserved for the rest of the evening that day so we made sure to give him extra belly kisses .. he just loves 'em :)

my baby is a baby

so we bought rocco from one of paris's good friends. there were also four other puppies in the litter, three of which got sold but one which was left in our friend's house.

well the other night he brought rocco's sister over! i haven't seen the other little ones since the day we got rocco so i was so surprised when he just showed up at our door with nacha, rocco's sister.

i was really excited to see them together and see if they would remember each other .. but was immediately disappointed. rocco kept running away. running away!

i thought he would have enjoyed having another dog equal to his size since he just loves playing with isaac. but that picture up there is literally the only semi-decent picture i got of the two of them together because rocco wouldn't even get within a foot of her.

it just made me realize that my little baby is a big baby!

king of the castle

a few times on the weekends, i've caught rocco sunbathing on our stairs in the morning. you know ... like a cat.

so we did a little furniture rearranging in the apartment this weekend and that included rocco's little area. i decided to move his bed to his favorite sun spot on the stairs and .. he loved it. i put his food container on the stair below but.... it just wasn't convenient enough for him. so i had to move it riiiight next to his bed.

i mean, his is the king in this house.

love at first site

we bought rocco a new chew toy. okay his only chew toy.

you see, he has been so content with chewing all of our socks and fingers that we just never bought him a proper chew toy. then this weekend as i was roaming the grocery store aisles i came across this little number and decided to try it out.

love at first site, people.

and thank goodness... for the sake of all of my fingers.

rocco's modern life pt 2

  last week i got to spend a little extra time with rocco due to a holiday and then my students being on a field trip. he is such a little cutie pie i just couldnt get enough. here is what i experienced during our time together:

 just some resting, hanging out. a little nap time.

 still tired buddy? you can rest your head on my computer while i'm getting some work done. oh not too comfy? lets try hanging over my arm instead.

a little more nap time. you know, some extra snuggles with momma.

and then he's up for the day! .. you know around 4pm.

oh my little darling, you surely are a little cuddle bug.

rocco's modern life pt 1

i'm back!

hey guys! so i'm back. back in costa rica and back to my blog.

my airport experience on wednesday was pretty annoying. there was a huge storm and after a power outage, and three or so hours of waiting to see what time my plane would take off and then trying to find my new gate, we boarded only to sit another 45 minutes because we had somehow lost two crew members. wah wah. anyway, i arrived and everything went smoothly after that so i was please.

 since then i've just been trying to get re-accustomed to life here. thursday and friday i still had vacation from school so i caught up on some exams and lesson plans and just took it easy. i obviously spent the majority of my days with my pup rocco who i would like to say is not so much a baby anymore .. but he really is! i can tell that he grew a little bit but he is still so so tiny. but if you take a look at the photo below...

he can now go up and down stairs! by himself! he also will now put himself to bed downstairs and wake us up with kisses when the alarm goes off in the morning. oh my baby.

back to school for me tomorrow, though. i feel almost like it is the first day again, like i have forgotten everything i learned in the first 5 months i've been in the classroom. but i think i'll be okay ;)

leavin'on a jet plane

welp, tomorrow i'm off to the good ol' usa for two weeks! as you probably already know, i could not be more excited.

however,

i am most certainly going to miss my boys.

one of them even tried to get into my suitcase this afternoon! okay maybe it was me who tried to put him in there...

but seriously, i am going to miss these two like crazy. lets see how they do without me for a few days.

love you both! and see you before you know it.

rocco's modern life

i thought i'd share a little bit about what life has been like with rocco these past few weeks. you know, a little "day in life" if you will. it starts around 5am with a little yap yap telling us he is awake and wants to play.

then after about 5 minutes of playing he decides he will let us continue sleeping for a little while longer. he likes it best under the covers.

then its play time again. p is the best one to play with. rocco's ears perk up whenever he hears his voice. its the cutest thing.

then its my turn to play, but rocco just uses me for my hair. its probably his favorite thing to chew on, in my opinion, i wish he'd find something else.

some more hangin out. you know, the usual.

rocco likes to hit up the gym every once in a while. he's pretty into staying fit. gotta buff up a little bit to be able to compete with isaac.

 

next up: some grass romping. this was his first time, by the way! absolutely loved it. a little timid at first, he would pick each of his feet up really high to walk around. so cute.

 last but most certainly not least, some quality time with teddy. best buds, these guys!
